If you are filtering through catalogue pages, or on-line sites, wondering what gift to get that southern Georgian Bay resident who seems to have everything, there’s an immediate answer: “Come fly with George”.

With 76 pages and colour photographs which show both Collingwood and parts of nearby Blue Mountains Resort area, “Come fly with George” is the latest small-book project by local author-photographer George Czerny-Holownia.

This magazine-style publication does more than put modern-day aerial photographs of Collingwood and district at your fingertips.

Not only do “Come fly with George” pages provide current, June 2022, photographs of Collingwood, George also provides photographs which show low-level, bird’s-eye views of parts of the Town of the Blue Mountains; in particular focusing on parts of the popular Blue Mountains Resort.

Bonus: George — “please, call me George” he says — includes some historic photographs in the pages of “Come fly with George”, such as views of an unique side-launching of a ship. Collingwood’s main industry was once shipbuilding, but the shipyards closed in 1986.
“Come fly with George” takes readers from take-off to sightseeing over Collingwood, the Blue Mountains and parts of southern Georgian Bay before returning to land.

“For local residents, or out-of-town property owners, it gives an opportunity to see their neighbourhoods, perhaps their houses, the way the birds see them,” said George.
“For people who don’t know the area, it’s a great way to visit it,” added George who has been taking Collingwood and district photographs, both aerials and from the ground, for four decades.

Self-published, “Come Fly With George” is available at www.blurb.ca at which one needs to click, first on Blurb’s bookstore and then click on the travel heading. That will lead to a directory of books and “Come Fly With George” appears as one scrolls down.

At this writing, “Come Fly With George” is available for purchase on-line for $24.94, plus tax and shipping with the author noting that he plans to have copies available for purchase from him directly. He can be reached at 705-293-1569.

“It makes a great gift!” said George, a retired newspaperman who lives in Collingwood, Ontario.
