Collingwood, ON [03 August 2023] – Fire Chief, Dan Thurman invites residents to participate in a survey that will assist in the development of a new Fire Services Master Plan for the Town of Collingwood.
The Fire Department consists of a team of dedicated full-time and volunteer personnel who respond to emergencies and calls for assistance.
In our ongoing efforts to ensure that we are meeting the needs of our community, we are creating a five-to-ten-year community-driven Fire Services Master Plan to guide operational improvements and enhance service delivery throughout the community.
To accomplish this, we have engaged the Emergency Management Group (EMG) to assist us with this initiative. EMG is a consulting firm that has worked with many fire departments in developing their master fire plans, station assessments, and fire service review, including the development of the Town’s current Plan approved in 2017.
“It is important that we review and renew the existing Plan to ensure it meets the current and future expectations and needs of our community and that residents have the opportunity to provide input into the Plan,” says Fire Chief, Dan Thurman.
The Master Plan for the Collingwood Fire Department will address current and anticipated community fire risks and needs over the next five-to-ten-years, and 20 years for the asset life cycle planning. The objective of the Master Plan is to examine, research, and review all aspects of the Fire Department operations, planning, fire prevention, training, and education, communications, apparatus and equipment, maintenance, human resources, station suitability (accommodations), budgets, and large-scale emergency preparedness.
